How To Start Your Day Like A Real Boss

I think we all know these super lazy and I-hate-the-whole-world getting ups. And these are the worst. Trying to kick your nice butt out of the bed swearing or calling all the saints and permanently turning the alarm off. Does it sound quite familiar to you? All days look like this? Then you’re in the right place. Welcome in the I-hate-these-mornings-and-just-let-me-sleep club!

But HEY! Wait a minute. I know you don’t want to be in this super boring club. YOU want to be in the I-love-getting up-and-I-am-ready-to start-my-day-like-a-boss club. Am I right? I think I am.

I used to be like this. Always sleeping till 10am and having lunch in my pyjama. I stared open-mouthed at the people who had set alarms for 6am and shaken my head What the hell? Are they humans? No seriously, this was me. I know it may sound like I’m exaggerating but this was me and I am really glad that I changed. And today I want to show you that the getting up process isn’t so bad as you think. Really!

So, how to start a day like a boss you may ask? Don’t worry friends, here are 6 steps that actually help me to start my cool bossy day and they will definitely help you too. Just give it try.

Step 1| Set your alarm properly (and early)How To Start Your Day Like A Real Boss

Yeah, this is the hard one. As I said. But it couldn’t be. Don’t worry you don’t have to get up at 5 or 4. Just set your alarm an hour earlier than you normally get up and then keep doing this until you feel it’s just fine to you. Later you’ll find out that you have actually more time and more things done.

Step 2| Be grateful for this day

Maybe you’ve heard about this a lot but did you really do that? I mean, wake up with gratefulness that you have another day and another chance to change, do, laugh, talk or walk? No? Me too. But I’ve realised that be grateful isn’t about saying thank you all the time. Just find a few seconds in your morning to thank for the opportunity and appreciate yourself.  It may look quite strange to do that but you also realise that our days are unrepeatable and you’ll find out that live in the present is more important

Step 3| Read at least one chapter of the book or something inspirational

Actually, this step is quite important. To get out of our bed we should have something that kicks our ass and motivates us to do big things. So, grab your favourite book or magazine or blog or something else and read it, feel it and let yourself swallow by this energy.

I have to confess that I didn’t read so much when I woke up. I didn’t feel it was something I want to do but when you find something that has a positive influence on yourself then it shouldn’t be so hard to start reading in the morning.

Step 4| Write down a mantra of the day

I think some of us (plus me too) may start their day with bad thoughts, like: ‘Omg I will have to speak with the stupid nosy boss again…ugh.’ or ‘I bet it will rain again. Cool, so my hair will become lank… I hate this world.’ Or something like this. Maybe some of you are recognising in this or maybe not, anyway, you should write down words that will help you to overcome this and enjoy your amazing day.

You can use something like that:

  • My boss is a bunch of baloney but I am better and he is NOT going to ruining my AWESOME day. Look at this tiny eyes. Can he see something?…
  • Rain? Again? Who cares? I look SEXY with my messy hair. Look at this sexy boy? Who is your momma? Hmm…Me!

Or you can use something different, something funny or serious. It’s up to you. Just don’t let someone or something ruin your new creative day.

Step 5| TRY doing yoga

Important is the word ‘TRY’. I can’t force you to do that, but you can give it a try because sometimes it can be really funny and relaxing at the same time. You can just stay in your bed (but it’s better when you are out of your bad to prevent falling asleep again) and do some comfortable moves. Sometimes I lay in my bed with my legs up leaning against the wall and repeat my mantra or think about my new day. I have to say that this is relaxing and it can be enough to stretch your body too.

And as always Step 6| Drink enough water

In my previous lemon water post, I spoke about how important is drinking at least one bottle of lemon water and I will not tell you anything different. Drink water is important and if you don’t like just water then add some special taste you really like. That’s it and I guarantee you will feel only better.

I mean it guys, don’t let anyone ruin your awesome day because you definitely worth it and nobody have the right to make your days bad. And don’t forget you’re AMAZING! Yes, you.

    Great tips! I’ve been doing yoga after work and it helps me fall asleep at night! I haven’t been able to wake up early enough to try out a morning class, but would love to see how it would change my day!

  4. I’m a morning person so I actually do most of these already. I wake up so chipper that I almost try not to talk to anyone else around me for a few hours. haha. My husband on the other hand….do not talk to him before noon! hahahaha

    Love this, and absolutely love the quote at the top about not waking up to be mediocre! Awesome! I have to say, I have just recently tried yoga classes and spin classes and have become addicted to both. These classes definitely help get me going in the morning!

    The hardest part for me is just waking up when my alarm goes off THE FIRST TIME. Everything else is pretty easy.
