5 ways I reward myself after long & busy days | in blue box

It was a long long day that Monday – the first day of the new semester. I felt quite overwhelmed and wished to be home very soon, rewarding myself for how brave I was today.

When I was in primary school, my grandma always gave me something small for that nice report card I brought. It was really nice from her.  But after I got to the university (without grandma by my side), I had to learn to reward myself.

So, I develop tiny self-care rituals I always use when days are too long and busy. Because we should not forget ourselves.

1. I take a hot shower

I think this is an ultimate cure for almost everything. When I feel sad I take a shower. When I feel tired I take a shower. When I feel unmotivated I take a shower (after all, the shower is the best place for crafting new ideas). Actually, this post came to my mind in the shower.

My sister has bought herself an amazing thing – a body scrub from Mark (no, it’s not sponsored post)– and of course, I had to try it. And man, it was such an amusing experience. If you don’t like just ordinary showers, try body scrub.

2. I cook some delicious meal

This is the very first thing I do when I feel my day is a mess. Well, it’s my favourite thing to do when I feel my day is a mess. I stop doing everything, turn off my brain and go to the kitchen make myself something tasty.

I know that this may sound scary – to eat because you feel bad – so, therefore, it’s good to know the limits. It’s good to know when it’s just hunger and when it’s overeating. So lady, be careful.

3. I read a book

Oh, my favourite books. I can’t imagine my day without reading. Books are a good way how to get out of a bad mood and forget that hectic world around me.

Currently, I am reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and boy, it’s god damn amazing book! This is a piece that I’ve always wanted to read. For one thing, Elizabeth mentions two of three countries I want to visit one day and for another, it’s such an inspirational book – ideal for bad days!

If you feel bad, I recommend you to read The Shack by William P. Young or You are a Badass by Jen Sincero – perfect books when you need encouragement.

4. self-massage

To be honest with you, this is a quite new thing for me. But holy moly, it’s the best thing I could add to the reward-myself list.

After that long and busy day, I play the music, take my favourite cream and massage every part of my body. Until I feel completely relaxed and calmed. One would say that self-massage could be pretty boring. But in fact, it’s a good way to explore your body and find what you like.

5. I work on my vision board

I love Pinterest because it’s a place where I find inspiration and also create my vision boards.

In case you don’t know what vision board is, it’s a process of visualisation of your dream. It’s a good way to remember what do you want to achieve in your life and what is your priorities.

So, when I feel under the weather, I create my vision board online (on Pinterest). I collect every picture that represents my dream and then pin these pictures on my online board. But it doesn’t end at this point. The thing is, you (have to) live the board – believe that your dreams come true.
