My favourite party tricks is not going. -Rebel Circus
Back then, at primary school, I was quite loud, ‘highly visible’ and active kid. Actually, there was no time I stayed at home and be bored. There was always something to do and I enjoyed these days as much as possible.
But as I growth, my preferences changed and I started realising that I like spending more time with myself in my bed then going out and hang out with people. It was not like I didn’t want to hang out with my friends or meet new people, but rather that I preferred my own space and peace. So, I became a homebody person.
The term ‘homebody’ can mostly evoke those who don’t like going out and are depressed by their life, laying in the bed and watching Netflix, although this is not the only things they do. I am 20 years old and I love being a homebody. I feel my best when I can use this little ‘me moment’ to understand my thoughts and needs and cherish them. Spending a few minutes (hours) with myself means that I can be a little selfish and don’t justify myself to others for that.
I know that this may sound quite weird but this is it – this is me. I used to be a really social person but then something inside of me changed. I still enjoy a time spending with my beloveds and I love laughing with them and talking to them but… there is always some ‘but’… ‘me time’ is something that I need and can’t live without as it is something that we all need sometimes.
Be a better you, for you. -Inara Bueno
As a homebody, you get used to on your comfort and on other few things that will become your essentials and you can’t imagine enjoying your moment without them. Realising that I also became a homebody, I’ve created a few essentials that make my day.
1| A favourite tea
So, this is my top essential – I can imagine spending my Saturday night without my favourite cup of tea. I’d prefer an English black tea with a tablespoon of milk. (but as a homebody, you can choose whatever you want to drink). It can be a hot chocolate or a tasty latte (by the way, I found this amazing recipe on a latte) or just a bottle of water.
2| A blanket
What Saturday night it would be without a cosy blanket? There is nothing worse than cold feet in the middle of the movie night.
3| A candle (a lot of candles)
While I am writing this post, there is one candle on my nightstand and it makes me so comfortable. To be honest, I can’t fall asleep without a lighted candle. Well, I can but I usually don’t want to. *blink*
4| My diary
Do you know that moment when you get an amazing super cool idea but you don’t have anything where you can write it down? Well, this is the reason I keep my diary with myself when I have ‘me time’ because you don’t when it’ll hit you.
5| The headphones
Confession time: I am music addicted. I listen to music when: I am working, tidying up, cooking or when I am in the shower. Actually, I think, that by my 40’s I will be probably deaf because of the diagnose ‘too much loud music in her 20’s’. *blink*
I know there is a small pressure on people who don’t need to spend their weekend by dancing in clubs or going out and get wasted and I want to tell you that this is completely fine. If you like staying at home and gorging yourself with on chips, it’s fine and you should not care what other people say. It’s your time, do what you like.
Do you a homebody? Let me know in comments.
